Autism Bike Ride: Riding for the Cause
This event has passed.
Cyclists of all experience levels will ride through scenic Miami routes to support autism awareness and therapeutic treatments in this community-focused charity event. The 6th annual Autism Bike Ride: Riding for the Cause takes place on Saturday, April 12, at the Miami-Dade Fire Rescue Headquarters-Training Facility in Doral.
Participants can choose between two routes designed to accommodate different skill levels. The 12-mile leisure route travels through the City of Doral at a pace of 12-17 MPH, perfect for casual riders. More experienced cyclists can tackle the challenging 40-mile route at 18-20 MPH, which winds through Miami-Dade County. Both routes feature police escorts throughout, though cyclists should come prepared as there will be no designated stops.
Following the ride, participants and spectators can enjoy food and dessert offerings from various vendors while learning about autism resources from on-site sponsors. The event also features a Kidz Bike Safety Rodeo and Fun Ride starting at 10:00 a.m. inside the MDFR Training Facility for children ages 5 and older, with helmet fittings available.
Organized by the Dade County Association of Fire Fighters Charities, this event helps fund support for firefighter families affected by autism and contributes to the University of Miami's efforts to advance therapeutic treatments. Riders can purchase regular tickets or opt for the Rider + Jersey package, with proceeds benefiting these important causes.
Packet pick-up is available on Friday, April 11, from 12-6 p.m. at the event location. Check-in on event day begins at 6:00 a.m., with the 40-mile route starting at 7:15 a.m. and the 12-mile route at 7:30 a.m.
