Bacalao Men at Hoy Como Ayer

Afro-Latin rhythms, psychedelic songo, boogaloo, funk and hip-hop converge in a live set by Venezuelan ensemble Bacalao Men. The band performs Saturday, August 8 at Hoy Como Ayer in Little Havana.

Formed in Caracas in 1999 by bassist and vocalist Pablo Estacio, Bacalao Men developed a genre-blurring sound rooted in salsa and Caribbean percussion with electronic textures, urban samples and sharp narrative lyrics. Across albums including Bacalao Men, El Nuevo Bugalú and Sabaneando, the group has produced songs such as “Malibú,” “El Comegente” and “Cometas.”
