A DIY art happening unfolds on Miami Beach as Beach Towel Art Show turns 9th Street Beach into an open, sun-soaked gallery for anyone with a towel and an idea. What began as a homegrown counterpoint to the week’s VIP bustle has become a joyful reminder that creativity thrives just as easily on the sand as inside the fairs.
Participants are invited to bring their own towel-as-canvas and stake out a spot behind SCOPE Miami Beach. Throughout the afternoon, local artists and cultural instigators add to the energy with beachside activations: Dále Zine’s beloved “Message in a Frisbee” returns, Camnut leads a collaborative beat-making session with Studio Hoxxoh and Monica Lopez de Victoria offers a hands-on workshop turning beach finds into googly-eyed “shell mutants.”
Free and open to all, the Beach Towel Art Show embraces the democratic spirit of art-making—no credentials, no wristbands, just towels, sunshine and shared imagination.
