Benjamin Grosvenor Piano Recital
Dec 04, 2025
From: 7:30 PM to 10:00 PM
Pianist Benjamin Grosvenor presents a program showcasing three masterworks of the piano repertoire, offering audiences a preview of his upcoming Carnegie Hall recital featuring Chopin, Ravel and Mussorgsky.
Grosvenor, who became the youngest British musician ever to sign with Decca Classics in 2011, has established himself as one of the most important pianists to emerge in several decades. He won the BBC Young Musician Competition in 2004 and has since received multiple Gramophone Awards, including becoming their youngest-ever double award winner in 2012. The British pianist is internationally recognized for his "sonorous lyricism and understated brilliance," with Gramophone acknowledging him as one of the top fifty pianists ever on record.
The program features three contrasting yet equally challenging works: Chopin's dramatic Sonata No. 2 with its famous funeral march, Ravel's technically formidable Gaspard de la Nuit, and Mussorgsky's vivid Pictures at an Exhibition. Grosvenor has extensive experience with this repertoire, having recorded acclaimed albums of Chopin concertos that won both Gramophone and Diapason d'Or awards.
Benjamin Grosvenor Piano Recital takes place Thursday, December 4 at the Herbert and Nicole Wertheim Performing Arts Center. The performance is presented in collaboration with the FIU School of Music.
