Bloom After Dark Volume 6: Live Figure Drawing

Live figure drawing, Caribbean-rooted visual art and music come together in an evening centered on Ingrid Yuzly Mathurin’s exhibition Coming Home. The program takes place Friday, August 28 at El Jardin Inn as part of its artist residency series. Inspired by Caribbean traditions of gathering and storytelling, the event explores ancestry, migration, memory and belonging through art, conversation and shared creative practice.

Mathurin is a self-taught, first-generation Haitian American artist based in New York City whose multidisciplinary work connects personal history with broader cultural narratives. Her exhibitions and residency projects have taken her from New York and Los Angeles to Miami and Japan, while her public work includes murals and campaigns for arts, media and community organizations.

Alla Prima Miami will lead a live figure drawing session open to all skill levels, with music by Mikeflo throughout the evening. Participation in the drawing session costs $10. Guests are encouraged to bring their own art supplies, as a limited quantity will be available. Cocktails, wine and food will be offered for purchase, and advance RSVP is recommended.
