Book Talk with Elizabeth Castillo

Author Elizabeth Castillo discusses Dear Healing Heart, a personal reflection on caregiving, identity and the often-unspoken experiences of parenting a child with special needs. The program takes place Thursday, September 17 at Miami Lakes Town Hall, with conversation and refreshments presented by the Town of Miami Lakes and its Cultural Affairs Committee.

Castillo began writing while seeking greater steadiness amid the demands of caring for her daughter. The book considers exhaustion, resilience and the importance of making space for a parent’s own healing and well-being alongside family responsibilities.

A Miami native, Castillo is also the founder of Healing Heart Co., an initiative created to support parents navigating similar experiences and remind them that their own stories and wholeness matter.
