Brazil vs. Scotland 1974 and 2026
Jun 24, 2026
From: 4:00 PM to 9:00 PM
Football history and World Cup viewing come together at Coral Gables Museum for an afternoon focused on Brazil and Scotland. Brazil vs. Scotland 1974 and 2026 takes place Wednesday, June 24, from 4 to 9 p.m., pairing a documentary screening with a live viewing of the FIFA World Cup 2026 match.
Before the live match, guests can watch Only a Game, a 1974 BBC documentary following the national teams of Brazil and Scotland ahead of their World Cup meeting in Germany. The screening adds historical context to the evening’s Brazil vs. Scotland viewing, connecting two moments in international football more than five decades apart.
The event is presented in conjunction with Diplomacy and The Beautiful Game, an exhibition organized by Coral Gables Museum in partnership with the Consulates General of Brazil in Miami and Glasgow, and in collaboration with the Stirling Smith Art Gallery and Museum and Museu Pelé. The exhibition explores how football has connected people, cultures and nations across five centuries.
Program highlights include:
- 4 p.m. — Doors open
- 4:30-5:15 p.m. — Screening of Only a Game
- 6 p.m. — Live viewing of Brazil vs. Scotland during FIFA World Cup 2026
- Approximately 8 p.m. — Match concludes
The public viewing offers football fans a museum setting for watching the match while engaging with the sport’s broader cultural and diplomatic history.
