Candlelight: Mozart vs. Beethoven
Apr 25, 2026
Starting: 6:30 PM
A candlelit classical program places two of history’s most influential composers in dialogue through contrasting works performed in an intimate concert setting.
Candlelight: Mozart vs. Beethoven is presented at the Scottish Rite Temple, where the Collins Quartet performs a 60-minute program under the glow of candlelight. The concert explores the distinct musical voices of Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart and Ludwig van Beethoven through a curated selection of chamber and symphonic excerpts, highlighting differences in style, structure and emotional expression within the temple’s grand interior.
The program includes well-known works such as Mozart’s Eine kleine Nachtmusik, Symphony No. 40 and the overture from The Marriage of Figaro, alongside Beethoven’s Moonlight Sonata, Für Elise, Symphony No. 5 and Ode to Joy from Symphony No. 9. The performance takes place Saturday, April 25 at 6:30 p.m., with doors opening one hour prior to showtime. Seating is assigned on a first come, first served basis within each zone, and late entry is not permitted once the concert begins. The event is open to guests ages 8 and older; please note that the venue is not ADA accessible.
