Detroit techno pioneer Carl Craig brings his forward-thinking electronic sound to an intimate late-night set at Floyd Miami. The performance takes place Friday, April 17 at the club’s downtown Miami venue.
A central figure in Detroit’s second wave of techno during the 1990s, Craig is known for blending techno with elements of ambient, jazz, new wave and experimental electronic music. Performing under several aliases, including Paperclip People and 69, he has built an influential career as both a producer and DJ, with remixes and collaborations involving artists such as LCD Soundsystem, Hot Chip, Friendly Fires and Pet Shop Boys. He also founded the Planet E Communications label, which has supported fellow Detroit electronic artists including Kevin Saunderson and Moodymann.
The event takes place at Floyd Miami, the intimate lounge space located within the Club Space complex. Known for its speakeasy-style atmosphere and eclectic programming, the venue regularly hosts DJs and live acts spanning house, techno, jazz and other electronic music styles. The event is open to guests ages 21 and over.
