A showcase of student filmmaking highlights emerging voices from across Florida as part of the 43rd annual Miami Film Festival.
Cinemaslam takes place Saturday, April 11 at the Bill Cosford Cinema, presenting a curated selection of short films created by college students from around the state. The program offers a snapshot of new talent and storytelling perspectives shaping Florida’s next generation of filmmakers.
The lineup spans a range of genres and themes, from environmental and cultural documentaries to narrative and experimental works. Featured films include:
- The Golden Touch, which explores the role of beekeepers in sustaining pollinator populations
- Krome Ave., a late-night story of two friends stranded in an unexpected setting
- Ghost of the Marsh, focused on efforts to preserve Florida’s rare ghost orchid.
- Florida, examining the state’s shifting landscape around reproductive rights
- JIT, a coming-of-age story set against social pressure
- Mighty Spoonbills, a supernatural tale blending dark humor and fantasy
- Lunch, a quiet portrait of childhood and emotional distance.
Short Film Programmer Chris Molina is expected to attend.
