Clara Toro: Everyday Joy
Through Oct 18, 2025
weekly on Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, Friday, Saturday
From: 10:00 AM to 5:00 PM
Photographs capturing everyday life in Miami take center stage in Clara Toro’s first solo exhibition, where portraits and candid moments reflect both resilience and joy.
Clara Toro: Everyday Joy is on view September 12-October 18 at the Museum of Art and Design (MOAD) at Miami Dade College. The exhibition coincides with the 100-year anniversary of the Freedom Tower and features new commissions alongside earlier works. Central to the show are a series of black-and-white portraits created as part of MOAD’s oral history project, in which Toro invited Miami residents to smile as a gesture of perseverance or to reflect on their challenges with quiet dignity.
Born in Medellín and based in Miami, Toro builds on a practice rooted in personal narratives and historical awareness, photographing people in their homes, workplaces and everyday settings. The exhibition is open by appointment only, with tours available through advance scheduling.
