Delicious Dye Day
Apr 12, 2026
From: 11:00 AM to 2:30 PM
A hands-on workshop at Vizcaya Village introduces participants to natural dyeing using everyday kitchen materials. Taking place Sunday, April 12, Delicious Dye Day invites visitors of all ages to transform white cotton garments into soft pink hues using avocado pits and peels.
Led by sustainability advocate Taryn Hipwell, the session demonstrates plant-based dye techniques while exploring concepts of circular fashion and non-toxic materials. Participants can bring one or two white or off-white cotton shirts to dye on site, with guidance provided throughout the process. A nearby Healthy Fabric Library offers additional resources on sustainable textiles and dye methods.
The drop-in activity runs alongside the weekly Vizcaya Village Farmers Market, allowing visitors to explore local vendors while their garments dry. Participation is free and available on a first-come, first-served basis while supplies last.
