Mistaken identities, sparkling waltzes and lavish mischief take center stage as Florida Grand Opera brings a South Florida twist to Johann Strauss II’s beloved operetta.
Die Fledermaus runs January 24, 25 and 27 at the Adrienne Arsht Center. Set amid the intrigue of high society and the elegance of a masquerade ball, the story follows Dr. Falke as he orchestrates playful revenge on his friend Eisenstein, setting off a comedic chain of disguises and deception. Reimagined through the lens of Miami’s cultural energy, this production transforms the grandeur of the Viennese court into a dazzling celebration filled with surprises and special appearances.
With music by Strauss and a libretto by Karl Haffner and Richard Genée, Die Fledermaus features lush orchestration, buoyant ensembles and a festive spirit that flows throughout. The opera is sung in German with projected English and Spanish translations.
