Families are invited to kick off the school year with a creative morning of art, stories and poetry at North Shore Park & Youth Center. Presented by The Wolfsonian–FIU, this free family event offers a mix of hands-on activities and community fun designed for kids of all ages.
Discovering Design Free Family Day: Back to School '25 takes place Sunday, August 10. Highlights include a keychain-making workshop led by artist Isabella Marie Garcia, story time with Melissa Gutiérrez reading Westofchester's ABCs of Miami and a food-themed poetry exchange with O, Miami that involves writing a haiku and trading it for a cookie from Zak the Baker. The first 75 students in attendance will receive a free backpack and book, courtesy of The Children's Trust and Bookleggers Library.
