Feb 15, 2026
From: 7:30 PM to 9:30 PM
Hailed by pianist Louis Lortie as “the kind of unique talent that the world needs,” violinist Julian Kainrath is quickly establishing himself as one of the brightest rising stars in classical music. His interpretations balance youthful fire with a depth of insight well beyond his years.
Discovery Series: Julian Kainrath takes place Sunday, April 12, at The Wolfsonian-FIU, presented by the Miami International Piano Festival. Winner of the International Classical Music Awards Discovery Award in 2022 at age sixteen and the 2025 Ysaye International Music Competition, Kainrath has already appeared as soloist with leading European orchestras and in festivals across Italy, Germany, Austria, Switzerland and beyond. His acclaimed debut with the Luxembourg Philharmonic Orchestra drew praise for a Saint-Saëns performance that was not only brilliant but deeply personal.
Born in Merano, Italy, Kainrath began violin studies at six and gave his first public performances by the age of ten. Recent highlights include appearances at Teatro La Fenice in Venice, the Ristori Baroque Festival in Verona and collaborations with the Leverkusen Symphony, the University of Milan Orchestra and the Klassische Philharmonie Bonn. He has also been featured at major festivals in St. Moritz, Berlin and Sofia. Upcoming engagements include a return to the Merano Music Weeks Festival, a performance with the Zürcher Kammerorchester under Daniel Hope, and an extensive recital tour of Italy alongside pianist Lilya Zilberstein.
Miami audiences will experience a rare opportunity to hear this prodigious young artist in an intimate setting, as he brings both virtuosity and vision to the Discovery Series stage.
