Family Meal: A Poetry Reading & Dinner Experience
Apr 10, 2026
From: 7:00 PM to 10:00 PM
A communal dinner and poetry reading brings together local and national voices for an evening centered on food, storytelling and shared experience.
Family Meal: A Poetry Reading & Dinner Experience takes place Friday, April 10 at Dunn’s Overtown Farm as part of the O, Miami Poetry Festival. The program combines live readings with a potluck-style meal featuring contributions from local chefs, creating a setting that reflects Miami’s cultural and culinary traditions.
The evening features poet Gabrielle Calvocoressi, whose collection The New Economy was a finalist for the 2025 National Book Award in Poetry, alongside the Poetry Foundation’s 2025 Fellows: Jada Renée Allen, DeeSoul Carson, Andres Cordoba, Maryhilda Obasiota Ibe and Aris Kian. The program also includes participation from the Miami Freedom Project.
Set within an urban farm environment, the event emphasizes community connection through both poetry and food, aligning with the festival’s mission to bring creative expression into shared, everyday spaces across Miami-Dade County.
