Family Roots Festival
Oct 25, 2025
From: Noon to 4:00 PM
Heritage, storytelling and community take center stage at this festival recognizing National Family History Month. The event blends education, culture and entertainment with activities designed for all ages.
Genealogy workshops led by local experts provide tools for tracing family histories, while storytelling and oral history sessions presented by HistoryMiami and the Black Broward Film Project invite community members to share personal traditions. Attendees can also record their own stories for inclusion in the Black Archives’ digital collection, supporting the preservation of local heritage. A Children’s Activity Zone features youth programming from the FIU Bob Moses Research Center and Little Lovett Petite Party Experience, while live music, cultural performances and sets by DJ H2 add to the festive atmosphere.
The Family Roots Festival takes place on Saturday, October 25 at the Black Archives Historic Lyric Theater.
