Fever Dreams of the Ghost Orchid

Art, ecology and orchid conservation meet in an evening talk centered on Florida’s elusive ghost orchid. Fever Dreams of the Ghost Orchid takes place Thursday, May 21 at The Bass in Miami Beach. Hosted by the Miami Beach Orchid Society, the program features artist Cristina Molina discussing work shaped by her time as an AIRIE fellow in the Everglades.

Molina will share the research and field experiences behind Ghost Orchid Fever Dream and Ghost Orchid Holograms, expanding the conversation to the ghost orchid as a symbol of beauty, rarity and the fragile relationship between humans and the natural world. Her talk will also explore the orchid’s relationship with hawk moths as an example of interspecies symbiosis.

Guests may attend the talk and remain afterward to explore the museum. Miami Beach Orchid Society meetings are free for members and first-time attendees; others are asked to become members.
