Friday the 13th with Drag Show at Rooftop Cinema Club
Mar 13, 2026
Starting: 7:15 PM
A cult slasher classic gets a queer, high-camp makeover with a drag-forward pre-show that turns horror into spectacle, parody and celebration under the Miami night sky.
Released in 1980 and directed by Sean S. Cunningham, Friday the 13th helped define the modern slasher genre, introducing Camp Crystal Lake and a legacy of suspense built on atmosphere, misdirection and dread. Its eerie score by Harry Manfredini and infamous final act cemented the film’s place in horror history. For this special rooftop edition, the film’s inherent camp is brought front and center, reframed through drag performance that leans into excess, glamour and playful fear.
The evening opens with a drag showcase that puts the CAMP in Camp Crystal Lake, as local queens reinterpret horror’s most notorious bad boy with heels, glitter and theatrical flair. Expect bold looks, killer performances and tongue-in-cheek theatrics before the film takes over the screen.
The event takes place Friday, March 13 at Rooftop Cinema Club on Miami Beach. Doors open at 6:30 p.m., followed by drag performances from 7:15 to 8 p.m., and the Friday the 13th screening from 8 to 9:30 p.m. Seating is first come, first served, with options including cushioned Adirondack chairs and shared loveseats, all designed for relaxed outdoor viewing. Select ticket packages include popcorn.
Founded in London and now operating rooftop venues across major U.S. cities, Rooftop Cinema Club transforms urban rooftops into communal open-air theaters. This edition adds a distinctly Miami twist, blending drag, horror and rooftop cinema into a night that embraces both screams and sequins.
