I, Too, Sing America: Langston Hughes & Margaret Bonds
Feb 19, 2026
Starting: 7:30 PM
An encore presentation brings this intimate poetry-and-music program to the Black Archives Historic Lyric Theater in Historic Overtown, pairing Langston Hughes’s words with the compositions of Margaret Bonds. Bass-baritone Davóne Tines leads the evening, tracing the creative friendship between the poet and composer through song and spoken text.
Presented by New World Symphony, the program explores Bonds’s role in shaping a distinctly American art song tradition rooted in Black experience, modernism and cultural exchange. Set within one of Miami’s most significant historic performance spaces, the concert offers a reflective examination of voice, identity and artistic collaboration.
This performance takes place on Thursday, February 19 at 7:30 p.m. Tickets are pay-what-you-wish, starting at $10.
