International Coastal Cleanup at Deering Estate
Sep 20, 2025
From: 9:00 AM to Noon
Volunteers gather at Deering Estate for the 40th anniversary of the International Coastal Cleanup, a global initiative organized locally by VolunteerCleanup.org in partnership with the Ocean Conservancy. The event mobilizes millions of participants worldwide each year in the largest single-day volunteer effort dedicated to protecting oceans and waterways.
At Deering Estate, the Learning and Conservation Team will guide participants through the historic grounds and natural areas to collect debris from shoreline sites including Deering Point, the Estate grounds and the People’s Dock. The morning effort not only helps reduce marine litter but also connects volunteers with the ecology and history of the Biscayne Bay area.
The cleanup runs from 9 a.m. to noon on Saturday, September 20. Volunteers may also support through the new ICC Trashathon pledge platform, which raises funds for local organizations making an impact on conservation year-round.
