International Coastal Cleanup: Crandon Park Oceanside

Volunteers will remove marine debris from two miles of shoreline at Crandon Park, including areas bordering the protected Bear Cut Preserve on Key Biscayne. Organized by Miami EcoAdventures and Miami-Dade County Parks on Saturday, September 19, the cleanup marks the 41st anniversary of the International Coastal Cleanup, an annual worldwide effort coordinated by Ocean Conservancy.

The Crandon Park event is one of more than 65 cleanups taking place across Miami-Dade County through local organizer VolunteerCleanup.org. Participants will collect and document litter along the beach, contributing their findings to Ocean Conservancy’s global marine debris database while helping protect an Environmentally Endangered Land that supports a variety of native plants and wildlife.

Advance registration is required, and walk-ins cannot be accommodated. Cleanup supplies and water refill stations will be provided, with free parking available for registered volunteers near the check-in area at the Crandon Park Visitor’s and Biscayne Nature Center. Volunteers should wear closed-toe shoes and sun protection and bring water in a reusable bottle. Community service certificates will be available upon completion of the cleanup.
