A live performance brings Interpol’s stark, melodic post-punk back to a large-scale Miami stage, drawing from a catalog that has shaped indie rock for more than two decades.
Interpol performs on Saturday, March 7 at the James L. Knight Center. Formed in New York City in the late 1990s, the band emerged as a defining voice of early-2000s post-punk revival, known for tightly coiled rhythms, atmospheric guitar lines and Paul Banks’ restrained, baritone delivery. Their early releases, including Turn On the Bright Lights and Antics, helped establish a sound that balanced austerity with melodic immediacy, earning the group enduring influence within the indie and alternative canon.
Recent live sets have continued to span the band’s career, pairing early material with songs from later albums, including The Other Side of Make-Believe (2022). Recorded in part in the Catskills and completed in London, the album reflects a more introspective phase for the trio, combining their characteristic tension with moments of vulnerability and tonal openness, shaped through collaboration with producers Flood and Alan Moulder.
