Into the Stacks: The Objects That Connected Us

Postcards, telephones, radios and other communication tools offer a material history of how people once exchanged news, stories and personal messages. The program takes place Friday, September 18 at The Wolfsonian-FIU in Miami Beach. Part of the museum’s Into the Stacks series, the evening examines objects from the collection that reflect changing forms of communication before texts, direct messages and group chats.
Mark Osterman, The Wolfsonian’s assistant director of digital experiences, and Nathaniel Sandler, director of Bookleggers Library, will lead the discussion. Guests are invited to contribute memories and personal stories, connecting their own experiences with the historical objects on view.
Tickets are $10 or $5 for members, FIU faculty and FIU students.
