Jim Gasior Quartet and New World Rising Jazz Stars

Jazz pianist and educator Jim Gasior leads an afternoon of big band energy and rising talent at Lummus Park.
A prominent figure in Miami’s jazz scene, Gasior has performed and recorded with artists ranging from Smokey Robinson and Jose Feliciano to Benny Golson, Freddie Hubbard and Patti Austin. He holds degrees from the University of Miami’s Frost School of Music and serves as Associate Professor of Jazz and Instrumental Studies at the New World School of the Arts (NWSA), where he directs the high school jazz ensemble. Under his leadership, NWSA students have earned national recognition, including appearances at Jazz at Lincoln Center’s Essentially Ellington competition and honors from DownBeat and GRAMMY-affiliated programs.
For this performance, Gasior is joined by members of the New World Rising Jazz Stars, showcasing standout student musicians from NWSA in a program that highlights both seasoned artistry and the next generation of jazz talent.
The free concert takes place Sunday, March 15 at 5 p.m. in Lummus Park between 14th Street and 14th Place as part of the Ocean Drive Promenade Music Series, presented by the Ocean Drive Association. Guests are encouraged to bring a picnic blanket or lawn chair. In case of rain, the performance will move indoors to The Betsy Hotel.
