John Adams with Denève & Ólafsson will take place at the New World Center on Miami Beach on Saturday, January 17 at 7:30 p.m. and Sunday, January 18 at 2:00 p.m., as part of the New World Symphony’s 2025–2026 Season. The program includes The Chairman Dances: Foxtrot for Orchestra, I Still Dance, the Doctor Atomic Symphony and the world premiere of After the Fall—a piano concerto written for and performed by Ólafsson.
Adams himself will host the event, offering personal insights into works that span more than three decades and have become some of the most performed pieces in contemporary classical repertoire. Known for their emotional depth and humanist themes, his compositions will be brought to life under the baton of Stéphane Denève, Artistic Director of the New World Symphony and Music Director of the St. Louis Symphony Orchestra. Víkingur Ólafsson, celebrated for his expressive power and fresh off his 2025 Grammy win, joins the performance as soloist.
