Joyce Billet in Conversation

Artist Joyce Billet joins curator Omar López-Chahoud, Design Miami Senior Vice President of Fairs Grela Orihuela and gallerist Mindy Solomon for a conversation marking the close of Billet’s first exhibition at Mindy Solomon Gallery. The program takes place Thursday, September 3, in Wynwood and reflects on That Which Comes Together, curated by Sophia Ballesteros.

The exhibition brings together Billet’s paintings, freestanding sculptures and design works in an exploration of abstraction, memory, material and transformation. Working across wood, digital fabrication and other processes, Billet examines the relationship between natural forms and contemporary technologies, allowing textures, shapes and ideas to recur and evolve across different works.

Trained in architecture, Billet works at the intersection of painting, sculpture and design. Her recent projects include a permanent Miami-Dade County Art in Public Places commission at the Village of Casa Familia and a 2025 Design Miami project developed in collaboration with Villa Albertine and Fairchild Tropical Botanic Garden. Billet is also a recipient of the Miami Individual Artists Grants Program through the Miami-Dade County Department of Cultural Affairs.
