Paul Thomas Anderson’s oil-boom epic screens at Churchill’s Pub as part of Kinoplex’s weekly community movie night. Kinoplex: There Will Be Blood takes place Sunday, June 21 at the Little Haiti venue, with Harry serving as guest host.
Released in 2007, There Will Be Blood follows oil prospector Daniel Plainview as he builds wealth and power in early 20th-century California. The film centers on his escalating conflict with a local preacher, using their rivalry to examine ambition, greed, faith and control. Daniel Day-Lewis leads the cast in an Academy Award-winning performance.
Kinoplex is Churchill’s weekly Sunday film series, with screenings held outdoors on the patio when weather allows or indoors in the green room, also known as the Micro Micro Cinema. The series invites community members to guest host by selecting a film and briefly introducing why they chose it, creating a casual space for moviegoing, conversation and local film culture.
