Long Play Thursdays

Afro-Cuban jazz, funk and global cumbia sounds come together for a late-night set at Sable in Wynwood. Long Play Thursdays takes place Thursday, August 20, presented by Miami Jazz Booking. The evening features Cuban drummer, percussionist and bandleader Calixto Oviedo with The Cuban Jazz Train, followed by a DJ set from Acordeonea, the project of Camilo Rivera of Lost Tropic.

Oviedo’s career spans more than four decades across Afro-Cuban jazz, timba, funk and Latin music. A former member of NG La Banda and Adalberto Álvarez y su Son, he has performed and recorded with leading figures in Cuban and international jazz. With The Cuban Jazz Train, Oviedo brings together rhythmic traditions rooted in Cuba with improvisation and fusion.

Acordeonea continues the night with an eclectic DJ set focused on world cumbia, tropical grooves and dance-oriented selections.
