Miami City Ballet Orchestra: Ballet Under the Stars

Classical ballet scores, live orchestral performance and featured dancers come together for an evening of music and movement in Coral Gables. Miami City Ballet Orchestra: Ballet Under the Stars runs Friday, May 29 through Sunday, May 31 at Sanctuary of the Arts, with evening performances Friday and Saturday at 7:30 p.m. and a Sunday matinee at 4 p.m.

Conducted by Maestro Gary Sheldon, the program includes music from Sleeping Beauty, Romeo and Juliet, Serenade and the Polovetsian Dances. The concert also features orchestra concertmaster Mei Mei Luo performing Carmen Fantasy and pianist Francisco Renno performing Tchaikovsky’s Piano Concerto No. 3.

Dancers from Miami City Ballet and the Sanctuary of the Arts Choreographic Ensemble add a staged dance component to the orchestral program. The performances mark the Miami City Ballet Orchestra’s debut at Sanctuary of the Arts, pairing familiar works from the ballet repertoire with live dance in an intimate concert setting.
