Presented by the Museum of Contemporary Art North Miami (MOCA), the “Michael Richards: Are You Down?” exhibition is here until October 10, 2021. Reflecting on issues of racial inequity, anti-blackness, diasporic identity, masculinity, and many more, Richards’ artistic engagement with these issues in the 1990s speaks poetically and provocatively to this contemporary moment. The Afro-Caribbean emerging artist had an incisive aesthetic that held immense promise to make him a leading figure in contemporary art. Richards passed away in the Sept. 11, 2001, terror attacks while working in his studio in the World Trade Center Tower One. The exhibition will be on view through Oct. 10, 2021, running through the 20th anniversary of 9/11.

Co-curated by Alex Fialho and Melissa Levin, this exhibit is the largest of Michael Richards’ work.
