Get a behind-the-scenes look at an artist’s creative process during a special open studio event at one of Miami’s academic gallery spaces.
On Tuesday, July 1, the Museum of Art and Design (MOAD) at Miami Dade College presents an Artist Residency Open Studio with Lucia Morales at MDC's Kendall Campus Art Gallery. Visitors are invited to engage directly with Morales, a Miami-based multidisciplinary artist and educator whose work explores migration, identity and cultural heritage through painting, textiles, video performance and installation.
Originally from Lima, Peru, Morales draws inspiration from her family’s roots in Ayacucho and incorporates elements of Peruvian folkloric dance into her practice. Her open studio offers a chance to observe new work in progress, ask questions and learn more about how lived experience and community tradition shape her artistic process.
This residency is part of MOAD’s initiative to provide emerging and mid-career artists with space and resources to create and connect with students and the public. The event is free and open to all.
