MOAD Moves with Jennifer Basile
Apr 18, 2026
From: 11:00 AM to 01:00 PM
An interactive printmaking workshop at Miami Dade College’s Kendall Campus introduces participants to the collagraphy technique through hands-on instruction and creative exploration. The session takes place Saturday, April 18, presented by the Museum of Art and Design (MOAD) in connection with the exhibition Belkis Ayón and Carlos Alfonzo: Odyssey. The program offers an opportunity to engage directly with a method closely associated with Ayón’s artistic practice.
Led by Miami-based artist and educator Jennifer Basile, the workshop covers the fundamentals of collagraphy, a printmaking process that involves building textured plates to create layered images. Participants will produce their own prints while learning about the materials, techniques and artistic context behind the process.
Basile, a longtime professor at Miami Dade College, brings more than two decades of teaching experience along with a multidisciplinary practice that spans painting, printmaking and mixed media. Her work, included in MOAD’s permanent collection, often draws on natural and urban landscapes, incorporating a range of materials from textiles to wood and paper.
