Mozart’s Requiem
Nov 14, 2026
Starting: 8:00 PM
Mozart’s unfinished final work anchors a choral-orchestral program pairing the New World Symphony with the Master Chorale of South Florida. Mozart’s Requiem takes place Saturday, November 14 at the Adrienne Arsht Center’s Knight Concert Hall. Conducted by Stephanie Childress, the concert brings the two ensembles together for a program centered on music of spiritual intensity, reflection and dramatic scale.
The evening opens with Ralph Vaughan Williams’ Toward the Unknown Region, a choral setting of Walt Whitman that moves from uncertainty toward transcendence. The program continues with Mozart’s Requiem in D minor, K. 626, a work left incomplete at the composer’s death in 1791 and long associated with mystery, grief and grandeur.
The Master Chorale of South Florida appears under the direction of chorus master Brett Karlin. Founded in 2003, the auditioned ensemble draws singers from across Miami-Dade, Broward and Palm Beach counties and is a frequent collaborator with South Florida orchestras. Childress, a Franco-British conductor whose work spans symphonic and operatic repertoire, has led orchestras in Europe and the United States.
