Music for Heating Water by Jojo Tea

Tea service and live analog electronics come together for an intimate listening experience at Sweat Records in Little Haiti. Music for Heating Water by Jojo Tea takes place Friday, June 12, presented by JoJo Tea, Sweat Records and Tannin. The hour-long program pairs three teas with improvised sound performances shaped by rhythm, texture and live electronics.

The experience moves through a sequence of tea tastings, each accompanied by analog synth performance using drum machines, samplers, drones and other electronic textures. Rather than functioning as a sound bath or ambient background set, the program is designed as an active listening session centered on the physical and sensory qualities of tea, sound and shared attention.

The event runs from 8 to 9 p.m. at Sweat Records.
