MUVE Volunteer Workday
Jun 20, 2026
From: 8:00 AM to 10:00 AM
Native planting and beach cleanup activities give volunteers a hands-on role in restoring coastal habitat at Virginia Key North Point Beach Park. MUVE Volunteer Workday takes place Saturday, June 20 at Virginia Key North Point, through the Phillip and Patricia Frost Museum of Science’s Museum Volunteers for the Environment program. Participants will help enhance coastal ecosystems by planting native species and removing debris from the beach.
MUVE uses community science, habitat restoration and environmental outreach to connect residents with South Florida’s coastal landscapes. Since its beginnings as an eco-art initiative by Xavier Cortada, the program has grown into a volunteer effort focused on mangrove forests, beach dunes, freshwater wetlands and coastal hammocks.
All tools and materials will be provided. Volunteers are encouraged to bring a reusable water bottle and wear closed-toe shoes, sun and bug protection and clothing suitable for outdoor work. Check-in will be at the picnic tables at Virginia Key North Point Beach Park, with complimentary parking available at Virginia Key North Point Trails. Community service hours are available, and participants must complete the Frost Science liability waiver during registration.
