Through Sep 14, 2025
All Day
Discarded plastic takes on new meaning in this community-driven installation that blends poetry, public art and sustainability on MOCA North Miami’s outdoor plaza.
Nathan Justice Moyer: Poetry on the Plaza is on view from July 2 through September 14, at the Museum of Contemporary Art, North Miami. Developed in collaboration with O, Miami and Free Plastic, this annual installation invites local residents to collect plastic waste from their neighborhoods and transform it into site-specific, trilingual poetry displayed on the museum’s facade.
The featured texts, written by Angela Delgado, Jennifer Kramer and former MOCA Teen Art Force student Rebeca Lugo Carrillo, reflect the multilingual voices of North Miami and explore themes of place, identity and collective expression. The project is part of Moyer’s ongoing Plastic Poetry program, which merges environmental action with artistic practice through community workshops and cleanup events.
An opening celebration includes live poetry readings, recycling demonstrations and interactive opportunities for visitors to engage with the work.
Based in Wilton Manors, artist Nathan Justice Moyer creates multidisciplinary works that reimagine refuse as raw material for beauty and function. His community-based approach centers on elevating local voices and fostering connection through collaborative artmaking.
