May 19, 2026
From: 7:00 PM to 9:00 PM
Collaborative performance, video and reflection unfold across Miami Beach Botanical Garden in a one-night exhibition curated by artist misael soto. No longer stuck, but still… in the middle with you. takes place Tuesday, May 19 from 7 to 9 p.m. in Miami Beach. Presented by Bas Fisher Invitational, the exhibition brings together original performative works by 17 artists through soto’s ongoing project, The Department of Reflection.
The exhibition grew out of a yearlong process of one-on-one “Performance Consultations,” in which soto invited friends, chosen family and collaborators into conversations about time, aging, intimacy, creativity, fulfillment and community. From those exchanges, soto developed bespoke performances tailored to each participant’s experiences, interests and ways of working.
The evening includes intimate live performance art, short films and video documentation installed throughout the garden grounds. Participating artists include AG, Jenna Balfe, Dana Bassett, Domingo Castillo, Mie Frederikke Fischer Christensen, Jacqueline Falcone, Liz Ferrer, Dennis Fuller, Angel Garcia, Faren Humes, Loni Johnson, Tara Long, Najja Moon, Ayesha Singh, Katrina Toimil, also known as lagrimas de oro, Angelica Vergel and Sue Welch.
Bas Fisher Invitational is an artist-run nonprofit presenting organization focused on experimentation, discourse and contemporary art programming across Miami-Dade County.
