Nu Deco ft. Mayra Andrade
Mar 12, 2026
Starting: 8:00 PM
Cape Verdean rhythms, Afro-Atlantic influences and orchestral innovation converge in a night of music that bridges continents and genres.
Nu Deco ft. Mayra Andrade takes place Thursday, March 12 at the Miami Beach Bandshell as part of Nu Deco Ensemble’s 11th Season. The program includes a newly commissioned work by Michael League of Snarky Puppy, a symphonic suite reimagining the music of The Beach Boys and Steve Reich’s minimalist masterwork The Four Sections. Lisbon-based singer Mayra Andrade joins as guest artist, bringing her distinctive blend of Cape Verdean tradition, Afrobeats energy and modern global sounds to the stage.
Born in Havana and raised between Cape Verde, Senegal, Angola, Germany, France and now Portugal, Andrade has built an international career shaped by cultural movement and experimentation. Her albums, from Navega to Manga and her recent reEncanto (2024), reveal a voice that is both intimate and expansive, blending tradition with contemporary currents of African and global music.
Since its founding in 2015 by Jacomo Bairos and Sam Hyken, Miami-based Nu Deco Ensemble has been redefining what an orchestra can be. Acclaimed for its genre-bending collaborations and inventive reimaginings, the group has been praised by The New York Times as a “chamber orchestra for the 21st century,” bringing together classical repertoire with pop, jazz and global influences in performances that are both innovative and community-driven.
