Oolite Arts Conversations: Antoni Miralda
May 07, 2026
From: 07:00 PM to 09:00 PM
A conversation with artist Antoni Miralda opens Oolite Arts’ new public dialogue series with a focus on food, ritual and collective life as artistic material. Taking place Thursday, May 7, the inaugural Oolite Arts Conversations program brings Miralda into dialogue with artist and curator César Trasobares and anthropologist Stephan Palmié at the Proscenium Theatre in the Little Haiti Cultural Complex.
The discussion examines Miralda’s decades-long practice, which has used food as a social, political and cultural medium since the 1960s. His work has included large-scale installations, public rituals and research-driven projects, with Miami serving as an important site of experimentation through projects such as Big Fish Mayaimi and the ongoing FoodCulturaMuseum.
Trasobares, a longtime figure in Miami’s public art landscape, brings perspective on Miralda’s local impact, while Palmié contributes scholarship on Afro-Caribbean cultures, foodways, migration and race. The evening concludes with a reception and book signing for Maggi Galaxy, available for purchase through EXILE Projects. Admission and on-site parking are free.
