Opening Night: Turgo Bastien and Jesse Jones Jr. Quartet
May 15, 2026
From: 7:00 PM to 10:30 PM
Visual art and live jazz meet in Opa-locka for an opening night centered on identity, culture and community. The free event takes place Friday, May 15 from 7 at The ARC, also known as the Arts & Recreation Center. Presented by Ten North Group, the evening marks the opening of Turgo Bastien’s Kalfou/Crossroads: Signifying as Articulation alongside a performance by the Jesse Jones Jr. Quartet.
Bastien’s exhibition explores the idea of the crossroads as a space for reflection, dialogue and layered identity. The opening is paired with Ten North Group’s Third Fridays Jazz series in the Garden of Humanity, creating a program where visual art and music share the same cultural frame.
Miami-born saxophonist Jesse Jones Jr. is a South Florida jazz figure known for alto saxophone, flute, soprano saxophone and vocals. A South Florida Jazz Hall of Fame inductee and founding member of the Sunshine Jazz Organization, Jones has performed across the U.S. and internationally, including in Italy, Israel, China, Austria, Greece and Russia.
