Opening Reception: Melissa Wallen & Luna Palazzolo

Two Miami-based artists open the fall exhibition season in the Design District with works that examine themes of connection, fragmentation and resilience.

The opening reception for Melissa Wallen: you are not an island and Luna Palazzolo-Daboul: Scattered Pieces takes place Thursday, September 4 at Paradise Plaza. Wallen’s paintings layer shifting gestures and dispersing colors, evoking natural and celestial phenomena while proposing painting as a space of relation rather than isolation. Palazzolo-Daboul presents her debut solo installation in the Miami Design District, reimagining Robert Morris’s Scatter Piece by arranging fragments from six years of her practice into a constellation of memory, labor and devotion.

Together, the exhibitions highlight two distinct approaches to material, form and history, marking a notable moment in the district’s contemporary art program.
