Opening Reception: New Atlantis

Miami’s neighborhoods, histories and cultural rituals take center stage in a group exhibition that reflects the city’s evolving identity.

Opening Thursday, October 16 at Green Space Miami, New Atlantis features work by thirteen local artists selected through the organization’s annual open call. The exhibition highlights communities that have shaped Miami, preserving stories that span folklore, ecosystems and everyday life while considering the forces reshaping the city.

The opening reception includes drinks, music, performances and light bites, offering a first look at new works by Priscilla Aleman, Jason Aponte, Elisa Benedetti, Diana Eusebio, Heaven Jones, Shayla Marshall, Phillip Norville, Cristina Maingrette, Alan David Mejia, Luna Palazzolo-Daboul, Kandi Stirman, Katie Stirman and Julia Zurilla. Inspired by Iggy Pop’s ode to Miami, also titled New Atlantis, the exhibition continues Green Space Miami’s mission to elevate and sustain local culture.
