Opening Reception: This Living Landscape
Through May 22, 2026
South Florida’s agricultural history and the evolution of the Redlands landscape are explored through an exhibition at Fruit & Spice Park. On view from March 14 through May 22, This Living Landscape is presented by the Deering Estate and examines the origins and development of the land that became the park.
The exhibition highlights the agricultural traditions that shaped the Redlands region, along with the vision of Mary Heinlein, whose efforts helped establish Fruit & Spice Park as a place to showcase tropical crops, with support from Preston B. Bird. Through historical context and interpretive materials, the exhibition connects past land use with the area’s ongoing role in cultivation and preservation.
Set within the park’s 37-acre grounds, the exhibition is complemented by a living collection of more than 500 varieties of fruits, vegetables, spices, herbs and nuts from around the world. Recognized internationally for its work in plant conservation, research and education, Fruit & Spice Park remains the only tropical botanical garden of its kind in the continental United States.
