Public Opening: Many Voices, One Nation
Jul 01, 2026
From: 7:00 PM to 9:00 PM
Oral histories, archival photographs and personal narratives connect Allapattah’s local history to the broader American story in a bilingual exhibition at Coral Gables Museum. The public opening for Many Voices, One Nation: En Nuestras Palabras: In Our Own Words takes place Wednesday, July 1 from 7 to 9 p.m. The free event is part of the museum’s America250 commemoration, highlighting stories of community, civic life and cultural identity as the nation approaches its 250th anniversary.
Organized by Allapattah Collaborative CDC and presented in partnership with Coral Gables Museum, the exhibition was developed in collaboration with the Smithsonian Institution, Museum of Miami and Florida Humanities. It is one of nine projects selected nationwide through the Smithsonian’s Many Voices, One Nation initiative and the only participating presentation in Miami.
The exhibition explores the question of whose stories are told and who gets to tell them, using Allapattah as a lens for examining migration, memory, tradition and community change. Through documents, photographs and firsthand accounts, it places neighborhood experiences within a larger conversation about the many voices that have shaped the United States.
