Remaking Miami: Josefina Tarafa’s Photographs of the 1970s
This event has passed.
Explore the compelling photographs of Havana-born photographer, editor and philanthropist Josefina Tarafa at the Museum of Art and Design (MOAD) on select dates from September 15 through December 13. During the 1970s, Josefina Tarafa created an exceptional body of images that capture Miami transformed by the arrival of her fellow Cuban immigrants. As the first exhibition dedicated to Tarafa’s photography, Remaking Miami includes thirty posthumous prints, made from photographs in an archive of approximately one hundred and fifty original images, now held by the Lydia Cabrera Papers at the Cuban Heritage Collection of the University of Miami Libraries.
The exhibit is on display at Miami Dade College's Eduardo J. Padrón Campus from 10:00 AM to 3:00 PM every Monday through Wednesday, and the second Saturday of every month.
