Riddims of Graffiti: A Solo Exhibition by Izia Lindsay
May 16, 2026
From: 2:00 PM to 4:30 PM
Caribbean iconography, graffiti-informed visual language and contemporary questions of identity shape this artist conversation at Barry University. Riddims of Graffiti: Artist Conversation takes place Saturday, May 16 from 2 to 4:30 p.m. at DVCAI at the Institute of Immigration Studies Gallery inside Monsignor William Barry Library. Presented by Diaspora Vibe Cultural Arts Incubator, the free public program features artist Izia Lindsay in conversation with the DVCAI curatorial team.
The discussion centers on Riddims of Graffiti, Lindsay’s solo exhibition on view from May 14 through August 22. Working across digital and traditional mixed media, Lindsay draws from Caribbean symbolism, material culture, indigenous histories and lived traditions to examine identity and class in a post-colonial society.
Lindsay, an MFA and Assistant Professor of Art at Augustana University, is known for bold geometric forms and layered compositions that he describes as “controlled naturalism.” The conversation offers visitors a chance to hear directly from the artist and curators about the ideas, processes and cultural references behind the exhibition.
