Running Edge 305: Annual Overtown Shakeout

A community-led run and walk combines light fitness, local history and neighborhood pride during Miami Marathon weekend.

Running Edge 305: 6th Annual Overtown Shakeout takes place on Saturday, January 24, at Dunn’s Overtown Farm. Presented by Running Edge 305, the morning event invites runners and walkers of all levels to move through Historic Overtown while acknowledging the area’s cultural and historical significance within Miami’s Black community.

The program begins with check-in and a group warm-up, followed by brief remarks on the history of the neighborhood before staggered departures for walkers and paced running groups. Activities conclude with a cool-down stretch and a post-event gathering featuring music, health-focused snacks and refreshments. Designed as both a physical warm-up and a social gathering, the shakeout emphasizes connection, movement and community engagement.
