Señorita Julia
May 23, 2026 - May 24, 2026
Sat: 8:00 PM | Sun: 3:00 PM
Flamenco becomes the dramatic language for a stage work inspired by August Strindberg’s Miss Julie, blending dance, music and theater at the Colony Theatre in Miami Beach. Señorita Julia is presented Saturday, May 23 at 8 p.m. and Sunday, May 24 at 3 p.m.
Created by Ballet Flamenco La Rosa founder Ilisa Rosal, the original flamenco theater work reinterprets Strindberg’s story through the emotional intensity and physical precision of the form. The production brings together artists from Spain, Latin America and the U.S. to explore themes of passion, class, trauma, desire and survival.
The performance uses flamenco’s percussive footwork, expressive movement and live musical traditions to frame the characters’ conflicts and shifting power dynamics. Presented at the historic Colony Theatre, the work offers a theatrical adaptation rooted in both classic drama and contemporary flamenco performance.
