Solar Eclipse Celebration
This event has passed.
Join Frost Science for a day of exciting programming throughout the museum and on the Science Plaza, including solar telescope viewing, hands-on space-themed activities, live science shows and demonstrations, and a unique Frost Planetarium show that delves into the science and history of eclipses.
October’s eclipse is an annular eclipse, which occurs when the Moon is a bit further away from the Earth than in a total solar eclipse. This means the Moon will not fully cover the disk of the Sun, leaving a ring of light around the Moon even when the two are fully aligned. It will be a beautiful sight! Here in Miami the eclipse will begin at 11:57 a.m. and reach its maximum coverage of 58% of the Sun at 1:34 p.m. The eclipse will end at 3:12 p.m.
During this time, you can marvel at the annular solar eclipse using our solar telescopes, solar viewers, or your own pair of solar eclipse glasses, available for purchase online in advance or in the Science Store. Buy your glasses here!
